girls being kept out of the sciences and pushed into the humanities; the humanities being valued less in our society than the sciences; and the humanities and sciences being looked at as stark opposites that couldn’t possibly be enjoyed for the same reasons are all problems that need to in some degree be tackled together

Fifteen was actually a pretty good year for me. This was during the time I introduced a lot of people to a lot of media, especially indie music, so I’d have been posting about Stars, Death Cab, the Decemberists, Garbage, Metric, etc on the music front, and probably stuff about Stargate, Doctor Who, FMA, and other TV shows and stuff. I was pretty obsessed with environmentalism, and would have posted a lot about cool eco-friendly gadgets a lot. I think I was just getting into webcomics, too so there would have been a lot of mentions of xkcd and Questionable Content.

Hm, let’s see… 7 would have been 2nd grade? Thereabouts? I was still entirely enchanted with school and hadn’t lost my self-confidence yet, and would have just been quitting soccer and starting skating. My blog would have been covered with pink and purple (my favorite colors), Michelle Kwan (my skating hero), possibly some science things, and my art (including a very awkward self-portrait I still have at home) and poetry (inspired primarily by Emily Dickinson). I bet there would be some fan things, but what about? Harry Potter? A Series of Unfortunate Events? Possibly still Ronia the Robber’s Daughter? That year also would have been the new millennium! So there may have been some excitement about the giant party we threw and some confusion about just what the Y2K bug was. An adorable year for my blog, tbh.
